The Goods=Epic Fail

So I went and saw The Goods the other day expecting a pretty good movie…what I saw was another awful movie by Will Ferrell. Honestly, it had absolutely no plot, was lacking in the area of character development, and was simply another cookie cut-out of either Taladega Nights and Step Brothers. The way that cuss words were used were like if they used a bunch it would make the movie better or something…Read More

Since we are going for this newspaper-like theme, we have also decided to expand the types and amounts of news that we will cover. Therefore we have created a few new blogs that are easily accessible from one of the links above which reflect sections of a newspaper. Also this main page here will cover whats on the other blogs but will just be excerpts of the pieces with a link to the full story. As always we encourage you to subscribe to our feeds.

Obama To The Rescue

Did you hear that,

North Korea launched a missile on Sunday that landed somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. Many international leaders now fear that Korea has the means to create a long-range missile. The North Korean government claims they were simply practicing their right to peaceful space development. The United Nations banned North Korea from ballistic missile activity in 2006, but the right to space development created a loophole. Many countries, including the United States and Japan, have voiced their opinion that North Korea should be punished for violating the U.N. sanctions placed on them. The group is being led by Obama. He openly told North Korea the incident would further recluse the country, and that the whole world is against them. Obama wants to get North Korea back to the U.N. negotiation tables. Russia and China, North Korea’s two strongest allies, have publicly backed North Korea. Korea had announced the date of the launch and the route the rocket would take, and it was tracked by Russian radar. Let’s hear what you all have to say.

Black Cars = evil?

Did you hear that?

California Legislators are considering regulation of the color of cars because certain colored cars have a higher energy restraint when cooling down.  It’s not so much the color but the refectivity of the color.  In other words black cars do not reflect well. They also plan on having a type of reflective windshield, mind not one that will actually reflect the light but one that will reflect the energy. Estimated costs for each car will be about $40-140 per car.

DUI For Driving A Barstool?

Did you hear that,

Recently an Ohio man was charged with a DUI. The vehicle involved: a motorized barstool. The man welded the barstool to a metal frame, which was attached to a 5-horsepower lawnmower engine, had a lawnmower steering wheel and 4 tires. Police officers responded to a report of a crash with injuries. They found the man on the side of the road nursing himself and well over the legal limit. When the man was asked how much he had to drink, he simply replied “a lot”. The crash occured when the man was attempting to make a U-turn while speeding down the road in front of his house. He entered a plea of not guilty and wants to fight the DUI charge. Let me hear what you think of this.

Say Bye, Bye, to GM and Chrysler?

Did you hear that,

Obama drew the line.  To most of us, this was no surprise that it would come down to this.  Obama said that he would be willing to let General Motors and Chrysler go out of business.  If the two monster businesses can’t reach agreements following the government’s deadlines, exactly that will be happening.

Not everyone is thinking this is the truth though.  People are saying that this is just a scare tactic used by the Obama adminastration to get General Motors and Crysler to take them seriously.  Some people think that these two businesses are too big to let fall and the outcomes will be devastating.

Still the administration says that if these two companies entered bankruptcy it would be quick.  They think it will only take about thirty days.  Bankruptcy professionals think something drastically different.  They think that this will take longer then maybe six months.  I dunno what do you think?

America’s Colorful Issues

Did you hear that,

Recently the National Urban League released a State of Black America report, which describes inequalities in employment, housing, health education, and so on. Leonard Pitts Jr., author of “Before I Forget” and “Becoming Dad: Black Men and the Journey to Fatherhood”, takes a look into the views of both white and black America. He says whites view things as “look how far we have come as a country” and blacks view it as “look how far we have to go”. Pitts then goes on to say that in order to be the most complete we have to use both views. His main point is that we as a country know what we need to do in order for everyone to unite. But the only problem is getting people, from all races, to drop the stereotypes and just do those things. Tell me what you guys think.

Hypocrisy?

Did you hear that,

The U.S. Agency for International Development had distributed more than 10 billion U.S. made condoms throughout th world. However, in an effort to save about 3 cents per condom they have decided to buy off-shore condoms.  This will cause the loss of about 300 American jobs. The main off-shore supplier is China.

What do you think?
